Solving the Bonnet problem

"Solving the Bonnet Problem" is a documentary accompanying the work of three mathematicians working on the solution of a long standing problem in geometry, first described by Pierre Ossian-Bonnet. As well as their work, the film illuminates the life and works of Bonnet and his contemporary Gaston Darboux as well as the history of French Mathematics in the 19th century. Absorbing computer graphics help to decode the complicated concepts, making them accessible to all. "Solving the Bonnet problem" is the closing film on the film festival "Mathematics and Informatics" in Heidelberg on November 11, 19:30 - 22:00 followed by a discussion with the director, Ekaterina Eremenko.
